The Garden of Forking Paths
Borges's "The Garden of Forking Paths" relates to our current nonlinear video, audio, and animated GIFs assignment that we are currently working on. In the story, Ts'ui Pen's unfinished novel is revealed to be a labyrinth of time where every decision creates new, diverging realities that coexist. This is like the structure of our own project, a digital maze composed of 10+ interconnected pages, each linked through multiple, non-traditional navigation paths. Just as Borges's characters experience parallel possibilities, the users will navigate branching routes, each click collapsing infinite outcomes into one unique journey. Every visit through the site becomes a different “moment in time” within the garden, reinforcing Borges's idea that all paths, those that "bifurcate, intersect, or ignore each other," are equally valid parts of the whole.
