Interdisciplinary Interaction Design
Reading about interdisciplinary interaction design gave me a lot of insight for my nonlinear website. I realized how concepts like branching and nodes from game design, cognitive load theory from psychology, and interactive controls from UX all come together to guide user experience. My site, which takes people on an journey through my plans while building a miter saw station, uses these principles to create an engaging path. Each page acts as a node, with clickable elements leading to multiple directions, while careful use of media keeps the experience immersive without overwhelming the user. It was also interesting to think about entry points and connotation. The reading reinforced that great interaction design is about more than visuals, it’s about guiding people thoughtfully through an experience, which is what I’m aiming to do with my site.
